Ericeira, a picturesque fishing village nestled along the Portuguese coast, has long been a haven for surfers and travelers seeking the perfect wave. But beyond the sun-kissed beaches and crashing waves lies a rich tapestry of local culture waiting to be explored.

The Birth of RESERVAE

Marica Lehmann, a 38-year-old German project manager, fell in love with Ericeira’s charm after relocating there in 2021. However, she noticed a divide between the burgeoning international community and the established local population. Inspired by this observation, Marica embarked on a mission to bridge the gap.

In October 2022, during a lively “Paella Party” in Ribamar, she met Miguel, and their conversation sparked the idea for RESERVAE. Unable to contain her excitement, Marica began weaving her vision for a magazine to unite both communities.

The Team Behind RESERVAE

RESERVAE is the brainchild of a diverse team. Marica enlisted Sara Afonso and Miguel Pedreira, two Portuguese journalists, and Laura Putter, a talented Dutch designer. Together, they crafted a magazine that transcends language barriers.

Written in Portuguese and English, this 100-page printed magazine invites readers to explore Ericeira’s surf spots, meet local personalities, uncover hidden gems, and delve into both traditional and international projects. The team’s collaborative spirit ensures that RESERVAE captures the essence of this coastal gem.

I did not only found the project RESERVAE to unite the the communities but also to show and preserve the beauty of the local culture.

Selecting Themes and Topics

The magazine curates a vibrant mix of content, showcasing Ericeira’s cultural richness. From its culinary heritage to its fishing history and thriving surf scene, RESERVAE paints a vivid picture of life in this coastal town. The editorial team carefully selects topics, striking a balance between old traditions and innovations. Ideas flow freely during spirited editorial meetings, and reader suggestions are always welcome.
